Back In Those Days

Back in those days,
I never cared about how my hair looked,
about which t-shirt to wear,
and which shoes to go with what outfit.

Back in those days,
I ran around playgrounds,
climbed on top of monkey bars,
climbed up slides instead of sliding down,
sitting on top of them instead of inside,
and falling down and fracturing my hand.

Back in those days,
all I did in the evenings was run around and sweat.
be it riding my bicycle, my scooter,
or playing rounders with my next door neighbours.

Back in those days,
I actually knew who my neighbours were.
Be it dressing up Barbie dolls,
using chalk to draw hopscotch on pavements,
battling at a video game with her brothers,
or even twisting and turning at a game of Twister.

Back in those days,
the girls were not bitchy,
and boys did not break your heart.
nobody cared about danger,
heck i don't think we even knew what was it about.

If I look back, there's definitely a whole lot of things I did when I was 'younger'
There was not a care in the world,
and nobody ever heeded their mother's advice to not play in the rain.
The books I read were classics and fairytales, ohh Enid Blyton you were amazing.
But that was, back in those days.

Now, time has passed and everything's changed.
And we 90's kids certainly never do those things anymore.
But I can look proudly back and say, been there done that.
Made a fool of myself, fell in puddles, created big messes,
Jumped too high, fell too hard.
All in the name of experience and a whole bundle of memories to keep for a lifetime.

i love my chilhood, and i pity the generation now who have none of that. *hearts*
